I'm so close I can taste it!

I have so much work to do on all my projects, but I feel like all the work I have put into art is enough to say it's not a hobby for me. I know I'm a professional artist, I just don't think the world knows I'm one...

I don't want to be told soon... this is one of those toddler instances where I say, "I want it now!" :P

I've often wondered this, what exactly constitutes a professional artist? It's not talent because plenty of untalented artists have been very successful. Amount of money made? Recognition within the art community?

This might be one of those cases where it’s open to interpretation, but I think the most widely thought definition of a professional artist is one who can be supported by their art making. Like they don’t need a day job because making art is their job. But then again, some people have artistic jobs but still consider that to be their day job and a different thing in their life to be what they want to be known for. (I.e. - a Graphic designer but really wants to write fiction.)

Or it can be a personal ‘leveling up’ or ‘achievement’ that once you completed that said goal, you are now a proffesional.

For me, it’s not having a day job, getting to do art all day and be paid for it!
