this is disheartening to read.

I know the career of a free-lance illustrator can be very difficult. finding work, and finding people who will actually pay for that work is an almost constant struggle.
we artists are a cursed lot. we live to draw, we draw to live. but most people seem to think that doing art isn't real work, so why should they pay us to do something that we would do anyway.

perhaps as the great master painters of old found, one needs only a great patron. the trouble of course is still finding one.

what do you plan to do?

Well, I have a very hard decision in front of me. I could try and stick it out and just make changes to include people in my life on a regular basis, try to get my feelers out there in the places I haven’t tried yet... (which is a small pool)

I can take a different opportunity, one that requires a lot of hard work, but would be a very different path for my life.

My issue is that I need to choose one or the other... I can’t have both...
